WLN NURSING STUDENTS SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMSWLN Scholarship Dean/Faculty GuidelinesScholarship Application FormScholarshipsDEADLINE FOR APPLICATION: March 1st of each year (Submit to Dean/director's office at your school - only high school seniors submit application directly to WLN) Nursing Student Awards The Wisconsin League for Nursing, Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield Wisconsin, and our other sponsors are pleased to provide two scholarship programs designed to help address the critical nursing shortage and provide financial assistance to aspiring nurses throughout the state. The scholarships are for Wisconsin students who have completed at least one half of the credits necessary for graduation from PhD, DNP, MSN, BSN, ADN or LPN programs in Wisconsin. The school must be either a National League for Nursing (NLN) member or accredited by the National League for Nursing Accrediting Commission (NLNAC). Scholarships range from $500 to $1000 for selected candidates. We are offering your school the opportunity to select 4 students in a graduate program, 6 students in the RN program, and 2 students in the LPN program to be nominated for these scholarships. At Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield Wisconsin's request, we encourage you to include ethnic minority students in your nominations. To apply for the scholarship, students must complete the application from the link above and write a one page letter to assist the WLN Scholarship Committee in making their selection. The student should address the following areas: a)Professional activities and/or community service b) Understanding of the nursing profession c) Goals upon graduation d) Financial need Scholastic Ability Qualifications for Nursing Student Awards: 1. The student must be a resident of Wisconsin and be enrolled in an NLN member or NLNAC accredited Wisconsin school of nursing (LPN, ADN, BSN, MSN, DNP, or PhD). 2. The applicant must have completed at least one-half the credits needed for graduation. 3. A financial need must be demonstrated. 4. A student must evidence a quality of attainment, both in scholastic studies and personal characteristics reflective of a commitment to professional nursing. Procedure: Students should complete the application form at the link above and submit it to your dean/director's office by MARCH 1. Your school will submit the applications to WLN by March 15. Only high school senior applications are sent directly to the WLN Office. These awards are given at the annual WLN Scholarship Luncheon in Spring or WLN Fall Conference. The deadline for both award programs is: student submits application to dean/director's office by March 1, school selects applications and submits them to WLN by March 15 of each year.
